In addition to his pharmacy duties Stephen is extensively involved in his community. He is active in different organizations in Cullman and has spoken as a guest lecturer for many support groups. He continues to seek out opportunities to spread the word about customized medications to help those who can not tolerate conventional medications for whatever reason.

When asked, "What is the greatest satisfaction for you in your line of work?" Stephen explains, "Our compounding, because we are able to help people who have not, in one way or another, been able to find a solution to their medical problem. Working with their doctor, we can customize medications to fit that unique individual person or animal. When that happens either by changing the dosage form or using a medication that is not commercially available, it is very rewarding. We have had many women on our Natural Hormone Replacement tell us, "You have changed my life. I never thought I could feel this good." Or a family member of a Hospice patient writes us and tells us thanks for making their loved one comfortable when no one else could. That is what it is all about to me and its what keeps me motivated to find solutions to people's medication problems."

Sharon is one of our compounding pharmacists here at Specialty Pharmacy. Sharon graduated from Samford University in May of 1998 with a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. She has spoken as a guest lecturer several times for the McWhorter School of Pharmacy, discussing such topics as "The Pharmacist in Ambulatory Care" and "Endometriosis". She completed her clinical rotations with extensive experience in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Pulmonology, and Ambulatory Care.

Sharon is a certified Pharmacist Immunizer. She is also a member of the Alabama Pharmacy Association. Sharon received her Primary Compounding Training Course Certificate in April 2000. She completed her training at Professional Compounding Centers of America, Inc. (PCCA), a provider of American Council on Pharmaceutical Education, accredited training and continuing education programs, bulk pharmaceuticals devices and technical consulting headquartered in Houston, Texas.

In a recent article featuring Specialty Pharmacy's Compounding services, Sharon was asked what the greatest satisfaction was for her in the profession. Sharon responded by saying, "I find great satisfaction in helping patients and serving them. My purpose in becoming a pharmacist was to utilize my education to make a difference in the lives of others. Sometimes a patient needs very detailed drug information or perhaps just a listening ear and a smiling face. We are proud that our specialized services such as compounding and being a pharmacy immunization center provide a great avenue to meet patient's needs.
